Gold and Glory: The Road to El Dorado

Revolution Software Limited, 2000

Gold and Glory: The Road to El Dorado is an excellent adventure game based on Dreamworks latest animated feature movie about two cons living in a coastal Spanish town trying to do something big that can change the rest of their lives from miserable to fame and riches. You play as Miguel and Tulio, the two cons as in the movie, who fortunately win an ancient map in a dice game of luck showing the route to the legendary city of gold, El Dorado. You first quest after possessing the map is to find a way to escape the city, where every guard is looking for both of you to put you in prison. Next quest, find a ship as a mean of transport that can sail you to the place shown on the map and then the final quest that consist of finding your way to El Dorado following the map.

The Road to El Dorado is one of those games that really took my breath away for few moments when I looked at the stunning graphics and animations, which are so colorful, clean and crispy. In addition to these great graphics many original animated clips from the animated movie are also added in this game. The music, sound effects and voice acting are equally brilliant with tons of humorous dialogues wrapped along that increase the fun and entertainment while you solve puzzles or find your ways through traps. Puzzles on the other hand are quite good and logical and help greatly in building up the story. In many cases, movie based games turn out a huge flop but Gold and Glory really stands highly ranked in this category and worth playing.
