Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Lucasfilm Games, 1989

This title was released shortly after the first Indiana Jones film hit the silver screen. And as hard as it is to believe, this game is just as fun to play, as the movie is to watch. The puzzles range from simple to very challenging and the game has several alternate endings. The story goes by exactly as in the movie. You are set to find your missing father, who's been mysteriously kidnapped by Nazis while on a quest to find the Holy Grail.

The game uses the same engine as LucasFilm earlier games decorated with dated enhanced graphics and sound that defines the earlier computer gaming era. While there were some good action sequences, some clever puzzles can be solved in many ways. So, if you were looking for a game with familiar characters than this would be a good one to try.

You play the role of Jake Masters, commonly known as "Lucky." Kate's father  hires you to rescue her from her abductors. To reunite father and daughter you must enlist the aid of a street-wise ninja. Your adventures will take you to exotic locations, from Paris to Istanbul, via the streets of Hong Kong and the snow covered peaks of the Himalayas. You will even travel on the Orient Express.

The graphics are splendid and original stereo soundtrack injects life in the game. The interface is point & click and allows you to accomplish your actions including few arcade sequences. If you like to play adventures with unique story line, here is one for you.

Leisure Suit Larry: In the Land of the Lounge Lizards

Sierra On-Line, 1994

The VGA remake of this title is an excellent example of how quickly computer technology grew in it's early days. Virtually the same plot and puzzles are to be found, but the graphics and animated sequences were totally redesigned and the result changed the standard of adventure gaming forever. With Larry's new look in place, Sierra changed the interface from text to a fully mouse supported point-and-click control.  And instead of simply using your PC's internal speakers, sound card support was added to give music and sound effects a boost.
