Les Manley: Search for the King

Manley Associates, 1990

Les Manley's loveable character and joyous humor find a home in this funny text-based graphical adventure game. As Les Manley, you are determined to search and find the King as part of the Elvis Contest and win the heart of the girl of your dreams. The plot is somewhat interesting, but it stereotypes rock fans in unflattering ways, and the winning action is rather a letdown, given what happens during the game. The text parser used in this game is quite intelligent and recognized most grammatical technicalities. While there was some good music,a few puzzles are tricky and need special attention.

Les Manley: Lost in L.A.

Manley Associates, 1992

This is the second and last sequel to Les Manley series. In this chapter your best friend, the smallest man in the world, Helmut the Human Bean has been kidnapped. Some famous Hollywood celebrities were also mysteriously kidnapped in the past few months. Now, it's your duty to find and  rescue your friend and also find who is behind all these kidnappings. The game has a few sexually explicit scenes added just to attract adult audience. Digitized characters are used in the cut-scenes. While the graphics are far better than it predecessor, the interface is also replaced from test-based to point-and-click making the game more enjoyable.

Dune

Cryo Interactive Entertainment, 1992

A game based on the award-winning Frank Herbert novel series of the same name; Dune casts you as Paul Atreides, son of Duke Leto Atreides. As in the novel, Paul and his royal family have been sent to the planet Dune to protect the innocent Fremen inhabitants from the evil Harkonnens and to ensure the production of the spice that cures illness and prolongs life. But you are more than a child of royalty, as it is your destiny to become the Kwisatz Haderach, the universe's Supreme Being and savior of worlds. The game is divided into three chapters and each is comprised of both classic adventuring and combat. The point-and-click interface is very intuitive and the sound and graphics are quite good for the era. Highly recommended game.
